Hands On & Tricriana, on view opening tonight at KRDB. 1101 E 6th St. 6-8 pm.
I woke up at 5 (thanks to Gioia) the day I would start installing, full of regret. Diego was out of town. Nino had been home sick the day before. I haven’t done the Austin Studio Tour in many years, because it’s a lot of work. Anyway, I'd committed. Carry on.
Later that day, from a very tall ladder, I got a glimmer.
I got to see “Hands On”, up on a twelve-foot wall where it could hang without scraping the ground. Daylight flooded in. This is why.
The back of Hands On, which I began painting in 2018. One of my first really large canvases.
Sky Door (Dreaming), on view at KRDB this week only.
It’s not been an easy week. Luckily, I had expert help hanging from my friend Matthew Winters, the friendly support of KRDB office staff and dogs, and a sense of pride that I have done this all before; I know what I’m doing. Loading the U-Haul, hanging the clamp lights, I’m an artist, and this is part of my work.
I hope I’ll get to see you tonight or this weekend, for this very short show, with a lot of work, from 2009 to the present.
