Join me! November 14, 16 & 17th at 1101 E. 6th St. KRDB for EAST.
I hope you’ll join me during the Austin Studio Tour, where I’ll be exhibiting paintings, old and new. There will be rooms of installation with new floor-to-ceiling paintings! And rooms with smaller work, ready to hang in your own home.
This is my only show in Austin for the foreseeable future, so please come out and say hello. One weekend only.
We’ll also have a special little cocktail party Thursday, Nov. 14th.

I’m so honored to share a birthday with KAMALA HARRIS! She’s also 5’2”. If you haven’t voted yet, get out there! They’ll stop texting you.
Thanks to everyone who invested in a paid subscription to this newsletter in honor of my birthday. It means a lot to me—truly.
Now I want to spend some time on another woman who inspires me, Miranda July. Her recent book All Fours is the YOU GET ME book for women my age. But she’s also an artist of many stripes, and her philosophy on risk is inspiring. She talks about it in this beautiful video for Art 21 (also produced on my birthday, 10/20/2020):
“Literally anything is possible in the moment. It’s kind of like being in a dream, but a shared dream. The reward of working this way is creative freedom, on every level."
“If you’re not afraid (and really why should you be), you can fly.” - Miranda July
Miranda July on Art 21.
In this video, July shows us a rack of outfits she keeps on hand, for when she can’t write. She’ll put one on, and start moving, feeling how her body behaves as this character.
The idea of changing our shape and unlocking a new aspect of self has me wanting to wear more outfits. Can I identify less with wardrobe choices, and play more?
Currently, July has a show up at Fondazione Prada in Milan, and there’s a great video of that show, as well as an interview with Cindy Sherman.
Christine Garvey at Sarofim School of Fine Arts Gallery, Southwestern University, Georgetown, TX.
I’m also excited to go see this marvelous installation-exhibit, ICONS, by my friend Christine Garvey. It’s up til Nov. 10.
Tammie Rubin in Breaking the Mold, featuring work by Beili Liu, Tammie Rubin, and Virginia L. Montgomery, at Elisabet Ney Museum.
And I loved the recent artwork up in conversation with the 19th c. sculptures of Elisabet Ney, at the Ney Museum. This piece above is by Tammie Rubin, and it’s a new direction for her to incorporate her own face. Very arresting.
I’ll leave you with a few heads I made. Any feel like you?
