Today I begin installing my exhibition, which opens next Thursday, 11/14. I hope you’ll come by! We’ll be at KRDB, 1101 E. 6th St. 6-8 pm, and then all weekend, 11/16-17, 12-6 each day. (Right next door to Practice Yoga, a few blocks east of I-35.)
Stay Open. Acrylic, ink and collage on rice and watercolor paper, mounted on stretched canvas. 55x66x2”. On view during the EAST tour at 1101 E. 6th st., 11/16 & 17.
This weekend, the tour starts with WEST. I know many of us are feeling shaken and demoralized. There’s a strong pull to get back under the covers and wake up in a few years.
Now is exactly the time to embrace community on the local scale, and support artists, who give voice to all the currents running beneath the surface.
Here are my tips for the WEST tour:
Diego Miró-Rivera, artist in residence at the LINE
Stuffed Animal Rescue Foundation
While you’re out, also check out Sussuri at Paggi House, and the new DORF at Zilker Point (across the street from each other on Lamar). And downtown is the always-interesting Northern-Southern, with a show closing Sunday.
There’s lots of great stuff. Seeing home studios is a special treat, and the collectives are a great way to see a lot and get a feel for parts of Austin you might not have known existed. Plus great shows up in our local galleries.
Get yourself warmed up this weekend, and I’ll see you the following for the EAST tour! Stay tuned next week for my tips on seeing EAST.
Did I miss something? Let me know what you’re seeing/showing for the tour!
